On: Saturday, 19 Jan 2019
Venue: at Home

Another win and another hat trick hero for WGS U12s as they ran out deserved 4-2 winners against Rishworth School.

Woodhouse dominated the opening exchanges with Harry Bates regularly finding Tom Fell in space down the left, with Musa a constant threat on the break. Musa had the first opportunity for WGS which was bravely smothered by the Rishworth keeper. A succession of attacks eventually left Ben Saia with the ball on the edge of the box and he fired the first of his hat trick into the top corner. A defensive mix allowed Rishworth to score an equaliser, but this only spurred Woodhouse on. The boys laid siege to the Rishworth goal, with a succession of superb saves, and the woodwork the only thing between Daniel Littlejohns and Oscar Binns being able to open their accounts for WGS. Rishworth's main threat came on the break, and they could have gone 2-1 up had it not been for the timely intervention of Harry Preston, very much in the right place at the right time on the WGS goal line.

In the second half WGS picked up where they left off, with Olly Howes causing problems down the Rishworth left, and Cameron Bojas doing the same down the Rishworth right. Despite earning regular corners, and having the majority of the ball, Woodhouse struggled to create clear opportunities, and so up stepped Ben Saia to put Woodhouse back in front. A powerful strike from the Rishworth centre forward levelled the game again going into the final 5 minutes. Woodhouse continued to press for the winner, and following a corner Ben Saia was able to cap his hat trick with the best of his 3 goals - a thunderous strike into the top right hand corner. Despite this Woodhouse continued to press and Tom Fell added the fourth goal in the final minute.
